But the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth (Daniel 2:34b).

Daniel’s prophecy describes a stone that grows into a mountain that fills the whole earth. That stone is the Kingdom of God. This kingdom of the risen Son was inaugurated at Christ’s first coming. As believers in Christ, we are citizens of the Kingdom of God. As the bride of Christ, we are active participants in the coming of His Kingdom to earth. The Kingdom, the Heavenly Jerusalem, is on its way: “And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband” (Revelation 21:2). As we actively participate in this gradual process, we pray “Your kingdom come your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” At the future bodily return of Christ, the Kingdom of God that started as a mustard seed with eleven apostles will finally be fully grown and the interlock of heaven and earth will be complete.

Jesus Christ is reigning now from heaven. Through the proclamation of the death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ and the discipling of the nations His Kingdom will continue to expand. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end (Isaiah 9:7).

Reformed Fifth Kingdom Postmillennialism

Daniel 2 predicts the rise of four successive kingdoms, culminating in a fifth and final kingdom that will consume them all. That fifth kingdom that will fill the whole earth is the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

Opining on the expansion of Christ’s kingdom on earth before the Lord returns to end history.

Espousing a modern, orthodox, Reformed postmillennialism including the view that much of Daniel, Revelation the Olivet Discourse find their fulfillment in the AD 70 destruction of Jerusalem.

Affirming a future bodily return of Christ. Affirming a future physical, general resurrection of the dead. Affirming that history will end with the final judgment of all human kind.
